Experience

Shell Command, LLC / Independent

Jul 2025 – Present

Fractional CTO & Software Engineer

  • Set technical direction and shape system architecture for mid-sized service businesses in finance, quant and tax.
  • Build the software alongside that leadership, from applications and integrations to low-level optimization.
  • Develop agent tooling, including MAINFRAME, with explicit command policy, checkpoints and inspectable runtime status.

Engineered Tax Services Inc.

Mar 2018 – Jul 2025

Software Development & Technology Leadership

Software development was part of my work from the beginning, including the period when I also led marketing. As the company grew, I moved into a dedicated development role.

Full-stack Developer Aug 2020 – Jul 2025
Dedicated software development role.
VP of Marketing Mar 2018 – Aug 2020
Marketing and technology leadership, alongside hands-on development.

Earlier: independent internet marketing and lead generation, July 2015 to February 2018.

Selected engineering work

MAINFRAME

Agent tooling · shell policy and recovery workflows · Open source

Shell work proposed by a Pi agent needs a clear permission boundary. MAINFRAME provides shell policy, checkpoints and status a person can inspect.

Tools and working methods

Product applications: TypeScript, React and Next.js. Automation and tooling: Python, Node.js and Bash. Data and integration work includes Convex, Prisma and APIs.

I build applications in Rust, use Cargo for builds and dependencies, and work with Rust and C++ on low-level optimization. My cloud and infrastructure experience includes AWS, Docker and Kubernetes.

I use AI-assisted development with source review and executable checks. My project notes show the decisions, boundaries and failure cases behind the interface.

A small engineering exercise

Would you ship this?

You own the release. Read the evidence, make a call, then inspect the reasoning and the next step. Three cases. No trick questions.

Incident 01 / 03

The green migration

A schema migration passes staging. It rewrites a large orders table, but staging has 1% of production’s rows. You own tonight’s release.

The person

A little room for play.

I grew up in the Atari era. Star Vector is a nod to that part of me: an original space arcade with a small ship, diving enemies and one more try.
